We set out to explore if omega-3 fatty acids could help in reducing serious heart issues following a heart attack. In the OMEGA-REMODEL trial, patients were given either omega-3 supplements or a placebo for six months.

While the overall results showed no significant difference in major heart-related problems between those taking omega-3 and those not, we noticed that patients who responded well to the treatment—showing a rise in their omega-3 levels—had better long-term outcomes.
